NewsOK – Tired of sad stories about oil?
Well, here’s a heartwarming one, from business reporter Paul Monies, available now to subscribers of The Oklahoman. A little sampling:
… Charles and Laura, scraped together the money to buy the service station for $3,500 in 1955, with Charles borrowing $1,500 from a local farmer. Their boys, Craig and Brent, grew up doing everything around the service station and helping out with the other family business, Kemnitz Oil Co. Inc., which sells lubricants for oil-field and industrial uses.
“Our station does OK, but we’re oil jobbers, too,” Craig Kemnitz said. “We used to haul drums of oil to drilling rigs. We sell the lubricant, so anything that goes to Ditch Witch, we sell it.”
